International Volunteer Day 2013

International Volunteer Day (IVD), celebrated on December 5th, offers an opportunity for volunteer organizations and individual volunteers to make visible their contributions - at local, national and international levels - to the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).   The purpose is to recognize this commitment, to inform people about the impact of volunteering on peace and sustainable development, and to applaud volunteers for their dedication and impact.

December 1st is World AIDS Day (WAD). It’s important to take a moment to remember the millions of people who have lost their lives to AIDS, and to reflect on the advancements that have been made over the past decade towards achieving an AIDS-free world. 

           

World Diabetes Day 2013

As we recognize World Diabetes Day, we are reminded of those who suffer from this potentially debilitating condition.  Diabetes is a chronic illness that affects people from all around the globe, but can be treated with routine medication and testing.  However, not all countries have the same access to diabetes medications or education programs.  As a result, this condition is steadily rising in some countries, like Honduras.

September 21st marks the International Day of Peace, or "Peace Day". It is both an individual and an international opportunity to promote peace in our personal relationships, our communities and around the world.
